Request to be moved from Lower Division (CVEL) to
Upper Division (CVEN)
The following form is for Civil Engineering students who have completed their
Common Body of Knowledge courses and are requesting advancement from Lower
Division to Upper Division. If you attempt to enroll in upper division
engineering classes and are still listed as CVEL, your professor will likely
remove you from the class.
After you have filled in the form, click on the
SUBMIT button at the bottom of the form to send the information to the
Department.
- If your Grade Point Average in
your CBK courses (see list below) is above 2.75, and your Overall GPA at Texas A&M is above a 2.0
+ 1 grade point (i.e. a 2.000000 will not qualify), you qualify automatically.
We will change your status upon receipt of this form. You may calculate
your CBK GPA
here.
- If you do not meet these minimums, your form will be reviewed and if the
Department has resources available, you MAY be moved to Upper Level. You will
be notified by email of the Department's decision if you do not
automatically qualify.
- If you re-took a class, your CBK GPA is calculated using the best grade
received in that class. Thus, enter the best grade you made.
- Grade exclusions generally have no effect on your CBK GPR, since we only
count the highest grade you made in a class.
- If you took the class outside of A&M, you must have had it transferred so we can see
your grade. Be sure to have the transcript sent to the following address: TAMU
Office of Admissions, PO Box 40003, College Station, TX 77842-4003.
- Students with a CBK GPR below a 2.50 or an overall TAMU GPR less than 2.0 are generally ineligible for Upper Level
status.
- Please check http://myrecord.tamu.edu
under your degree audit to see if you have been moved to upper level status.
If it says upper, you have been moved. If it still says lower level, your
application is still under consideration.
