The files contained in this directory are for the analysis of driven piles, using the wave equation. Each user manual was prepared on a different word processor, and "zipped", to compress the files to shorten the time required to transmit the files. The files include the following:

MWMANWP6.exe - Zipped and executable (self-extracting). When run, this file automatically unzips to give a Word Perfect version 6.0 for Windows user's manual, including all figures. (846k)

MWMANWRD.exe - Zipped and executable (self-extracting). Unzips to give a Microsoft Word version 7.0a for Windows user's manual, including all figures. (971k)

MWPROGRM.exe - Zipped and executable (self-extracting). Simply download this file and put it in a separate sub-directory. Double-click on the name mwprogm (stands for microwave programs.) The following programs will self-extract from the file:

• EDITWAVE.exe: EDITWAVE, required to build, edit, and check the data sets for submission to MICROWAVE.
• MW87.exe: MICROWAVE compiled for use on computers having a high-speed math coprocessor.
• MW88.exe: MICROWAVE compiled for use on computers without a high-speed math coprocessor.

All of the above files are compressed into self-extracting files. To use the files, simply make a separate and uniquely named sub-directory on your hard disk, and put the above files in that sub-directory.

File Definitions:

• MWMANUAL.htm - HTML version of the user's manual.
• MWMANUAL.pdf - The user's manual in pdf format, courtesy of Don C. Warrington who maintains an excellent site regarding pile driving analysis by the wave equation - a must read for serious practitioners. Don also has written an excellent paper regarding a closed form solution to limited cases for the wave equation.
• MW87.for - The FORTRAN source code for MICROWAVE
• MW87.for.txt - Some people cannot seem to get to the Fortran code, I suppose because their firewall won't let them get files with extensions like .for, so here is the MW87.for Fortran file with a .txt extension added. Simply remove the .txt after you get it on your computer.
