Will I get credit for the hours, and grade points, for the course I am transferring?

In your TAMU career:

In your CBK:

On the other hand, the CE Department wants to know your overall CBK skills, and thus we will include transfer hours in our calculation of your CBK GPR.

The grades for all CBK classes are included in the calculation for your CBK, whether transfer or regular.

We will use only your best grade in any course to calculate your CBK GPR.

If your CBK grades do not meet the 2.75 minimum requirement, but are close, you can ask our panel to rule on whether you can continue or not. If they say no, you would have to re-take any CBK course that you wish to raise you r CBK. You could repeat MATH 151 after having 152

AP credits usually come in without a grade, but if your CBK will be improved, we will usually count them as B's. Otherwise they are omitted from the CBK calculations. The hours of AP credit are omitted if the grade is omitted.

Any transfer physics that comes in as PHYS 219 as opposed to the PHYS 208 you see on your degree plan will give you credit for PHYS 208.

See Will My Courses Transfer to determine this.

Where do I turn in transcripts from other colleges or universities?

For Undergraduates: Have your credit sent to Transfer Admissions, Metro Centre 3833 S. Texas Avenue, Suite 130, Bryan, Texas. For more information, phone (979) 845-7387.

Dear Dr. Lowery,

I am planning on taking English 104 during the summer at Texas State University. I have found the class on the Texas Common Course Numbering System (ENGL 1301) to be common to both schools. My question is if the class will transfer as a pass/fail, or if the grade itself will actually transfer. Because English 104 is part of our CBK I need a grade for it.

Ryan:

All transfer courses, including courses accepted by equivalency, come in with a grade. Although that grade is not included in your overall grade at A&M, Civil Engineering can access that grade and will include it when calculating your CBK. On the other hand, Credit by Exam and Advanced Placement courses have no grades and are therefore not used in calculating your CBK. Your CBK is calculated based only on the remaining courses.

Dr. Lowery:

Is it possible for me to take Physics online, and transfer the credit to Texas A&M? If this is possible, will this affect my CBK GPA, which due to my Physics grade is now below the required 2.5 needed to get into upper level?

Andy:

If you can find a Phys 208 taught distance at an accredited school, and it had a one hour lab, and it is calculus based, and it agrees with the Texas Common Course Numbering System, it should transfer. Anything less that that causes questions. Such questions can only be answered by the Office of Admissions and Records at 979-845-7387, and then only after you have followed the instructions listed above. If they assure you it will transfer, the grade would count towards your CBK. In calculating your CBK, we take only the highest grade you made into account. Thus if you made a D and an A, we use only the A in calculating your CBK.

Subject: Correspondence Classes

I am taking Engineering Ethics through Texas Tech.  When I transfer that credit over to A&M, do just the hours credit transfer to A&M, or does the grade transfer also (included in the calculation for my overall GPA)?

Joe:

The course will come into A&M with the grade that you made, and will be listed on your transcript. However, that grade will not be included in your TAMU GPR. Your TAMU GPR includes ONLY those courses taken at TAMU.
