Half of my time is spent teaching CVEN 305 and CVEN 345. During the remaining hours I am a departmental adviser and have limited time for tutoring. Please plan on assistance either during my office hours, or see the tutor during their office hours. On TR until 3:35 pm I am either teaching or preparing for my 305 and 345 classes, so please note that you won't find me during those hours. Don't wait until just before class to get help or you likely won't get any. I try and keep my calendar up to date, and to add unexpected meetings as they arise. However, it will always be in your best interest to call before you come by, unless you are already in the area. |

Catalog Description:
Course Description: (3-0) 3 SCH. Structural engineering - functions of structures, design loads, reactions and forces systems. Analysis of statically determinate structures including beams, trusses, and arches; energy methods of determining deflections of structures, influence lines and criteria for moving loads, analysis of statically indeterminate structures including continuous beams and frames. Prerequisite: CVEN 305 or registration therein, CVEN 302 or registration therein.
Course Objectives:

Course Prerequisites:
To take CVEN 345, you must have been admitted to upper level in Civil Engineering, and have received a passing grade (no D's, F's or I's) in CVEN 305.

Course Schedule: Please note that the course syllabus will be revised throughout the semester. Please do not work any problems ahead of the date due. Some will be dropped, others that are better (in my opinion) may be substituted.
Sections you are supposed to already know (trusses, shear and moment diagrams) are destined to be reduced. Items where they think I can teach you 12 days of material in two days (Influence Diagrams) will be expanded.Homework problems in green are pretty much cast in stone, and will hopefully be left alone.
